33rd Provincial Community Day

15 February – 33rd Provincial Community Day began with a well-prepared Morning Prayer by Provincial House Community. Started with Thanksgiving for the many blessings we received this past year. The 2nd part was recalling a month’s journey. This was followed by intercessory Prayers by Mother Provincial and the Councillors carrying a symbol to the altar prayed for the province and the Sisters and each Councillor for the various Sectors they represent. By singing ‘O Qual sorte …’ the prayer was concluded as each one received Word of God – a ‘gift’ and came out of the chapel. At Breakfast all greeted each other a blessed day as Mother Provincial shared candies!
At 10.30 am, the Eucharist began escorting the celebrant Fr. Wilson SDB, Rector of D. Bosco College, T C Palaya by the dancers from Hassan. An introduction describing the one-month long practices as preparation for this important day. This was followed by M. Provincial carrying a dove symbol of peace, Councillors followed with lighted lamps. Mother Provincial placed the dove on the banana stem with the rays falling. The Animators carried a symbolic ‘tongue with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit poked on the Banana stem. The youngest Sister of the Province too carried a dove and placed it at the foot of the stem. All the Animators received a dove symbol `as bearers of Peace.’ Prayers of the Faithful brought all the categories of the Province to the Lord.
After the solemn Eucharist everyone gathered in front of the Sacred Heart of Jesus where Mother Provincial together with her Councillors cut the cake. Prayer Dance by Navajeevana children opened the felicitation programme followed by a beautiful welcome dance by the children of AWC. The felicitation prepared by the Vice Provincial Sr. Annie John was very creative that received great applause. Other programmes from the novices and Guduvanahalli children delighted everyone. The programme was wrapped up with the words of M. Provincial thanking everyone who contributed to its success especially Sr. Annie for the hard work and love she put in to animate this celebration and urged everyone to live the missionary spirit of St. Maria Troncatti. Sr. Vijaya Gudime delivered Vote of thanks after which all dispersed for a sumptuous meal prepared by our Sisters. Soon after lunch some of our Sisters and some Animators left for Bannerghatta to participate in the thanksgiving Eucharist celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Profession of Sr. Anna Joseph and returned by 10pm. We thank the Lord for accompanying us all through the day.
