Rooted and built up in Jesus Christ for His Kingdom (First Profession)

24th May 2014 was a great and glorious day for SHTC as 9 of our second year novices - Sr.Antonia, Sr.Carmel, Sr.Kalpana, Sr.Mary Yash, Sr.Priya, Sr.Rani, Sr.Shyla, Sr.Usha and Sr. Vijaya walked towards the altar to pronounce their 'Yes' to the Lord with total dedication. After the two fruitful years of novitiate and the eight spirit - filled days of retreat they felt that their hearts were ready to make their commitment to Jesus. On the Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians with great joy and enthusiasm, accompanied by the formators, parents and the celebrants the novices entered in procession to the well decorated chapel, singing "we are called and gifted by our God". Their motto: "Rooted and built up in Jesus Christ for His Kingdom" was highlighted in front of the altar. Rev. Fr. Xavier Manavath CMF the main celebrant delivered a thought provoking homily. Among other reflections he said: "Together with the roots, have also the wings, to fly and to reach the places where the Lord wants you to do His mission". At the solemn moment of profession, they came forward and pronounced the vows, showing willingness to put on the mind of Christ, become the hands of Christ and to have the heart of Christ. At the offertory, with lighted candles and the symbolic offering of a plant they sang: "All of me, not part of me Jesus I surrender". The entire assembly joined them in prayer for their joyful fidelity. With the colourful and lively Maha arathi the newly professed worshipped the Eucharistic Jesus. After communion they expressed their deep sentiments of joy and gratitude in these words: 'You are God who cares for me, in your arms you shelter me'. Before the concluding prayer of the Mass, the newly professed sisters expressed their sentiments of loving gratitude to all present for the occasion and everyone who supported them in the years of formation. Special appreciation and thanks were extended to Rev. Sr.Crescentia D'Almeida, the Provincial, Sr.Celine Jacob, Sr. Pauline D'Silva and Sr.Ritsel Ann the members of the novitiate community for their loving accompaniment and timely guidance.

As they set sail to the unfamiliar shores, let us pray for our dear sisters, that they may be always rooted and built up in Jesus Christ for His Kingdom producing abundant fruits in their mission of evangelization.

Entry into the Novitiate.

On the bright dawn of 23rd May, the long awaited day for the 5 Postulants, to enter into the Novitiate took place. We were very much happy at the same time very excited as we were about to take another important step to follow Christ more closely. We have been hearing a lot that Novitiate will be the most blessed days of our life, it's a place where we encounter Christ very deeply, a time to focus only on Jesus, a time where we are initiated, formed and trained to be the beautiful spouses of the Master who have called each one of us.

Our dear Provincial, Sr. Crescentia D'Almeida came for this important ceremony, to receive us as Novices and many other sisters too joined us with their prayerful support. The short prayer service began around 10.00 a.m. We had a beautiful reading on the call of the disciples. As a response to our request, Sr. Crescetia with the gesture of warm welcome gave us the Medal of Mary Help of Christians and accepted us as novices in the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. She entrusted us to our Mother Mistress Sr. Celine Jacob. On this occasion of our one step forward into the religious life, we entrust ourselves to Our Blessed Mother so that she may continue to mould and guide us always. We take this opportunity to thank our Provincial for having accepted us and for all the help received in different ways. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have formed us, who are forming us and who will be forming us, and our dearest parents for offering us generously to serve the Lord. May Jesus whom we have chosen to follow, grant them all their hearts' desires.
